The Bed & Breakfast Frantoio di Cannoreto (The Mill) is situated in Tuscany, between Viareggio and Pietrasanta, not far from the beautiful Tyrrhenian coast and the golden sandy beaches of Versilia, in a secluded area among century-old olive groves.

Its history dates back to 1700: since then up to the 1970s it was used as an oil-mill. It has recently been restored; yet, it has preserved the peasant atmosphere and the machinery used for the production of the local olive oil.

The Bed & Breakfast is 3 km from the historical centre of Pietrasanta, a city of art already famous in the 13th century for marble working. The old churches, the historical palaces and the monuments in the city centre have been flanked, in the years, by several recreational facilities that offer the visitor a wide choice of sport activities including golf, tennis, target shooting, trekking and horseriding. It is also possible to rent bicycles, scooters or boats (Viareggio).

Cultural treats are offered to the visitor everywhere from the seaside resorts of Versilia to the mountain villages of Garfagnana all year round:

  • Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago in July
  • August: musicals, theatrical performances, ballets, shows at “Versiliana” in Forte dei Marmi;
  • summer jazz festival at the Citadel
  • winter carnival in Viareggio;
  • lyric festival in Barga;
  • sawdust decorations of the street pavement in Camaiore on Corpus Christi day.

Moreover, monthly antique markets and weekly markets are held in Pietrasanta, Forte dei Marmi, Lucca and Viareggio. The summer season offers many food tasting festivals where visitors can taste frogs and snails, mushrooms, tordelli, etc...

Within a short distance it is possible to reach:

  • Fornaci di Barga spa
  • Carrara’s marble quarries
  • The natural park of Cinque Terre
  • Lucca (20 km)
  • Pisa (30km)
  • Florence (80 km)
